Unqork Receives FedRAMP® Authorization

Hear from Unqork's CISO on how Federal Agencies can now securely leverage codeless development—the next step beyond no-code—to significantly accelerate their move to the cloud

Unqork, the first and only enterprise-grade Codeless-as-a-Service (CaaS) cloud platform, today received authorization from the US Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). This authorization gives federal agencies the confidence to accelerate their move to the cloud with Unqork’s platform.

To empower agencies to use modern cloud technologies, FedRAMP provides a standardized approach for assessing, monitoring, and authorizing cloud computing products and services under the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA 2014).

Purpose-built for secure codeless enterprise services

Unqork started its FedRAMP journey with a sponsorship from HHS in the Fall of 2021. The initial Unqork for Government package was awarded the FedRAMP “In-Process'' designation in January 2022.

Subsequently, in September 2022, Human Health and Services (HHS) became the first Federal agency to grant Unqork an Authorization to Operate (ATO). Unqork operates the only enterprise codeless service management cloud platform granted ATO status to date.

Unqork, which was founded in 2017 and began the FedRAMP authorization process in 2021, achieved FedRAMP moderate authorization with unprecedented speed. Unqork’s effort underscores its belief that the public sector, in particular the Federal market, will play a significant role in the company’s future growth.

This achievement also speaks to the integrity and discipline with which the Unqork platform is built. And it demonstrates to the wider market that it provides a strong foundation on which to grow into the future.

Agencies can securely embrace codeless development

With FedRAMP authorization, agencies can take advantage of Unqork’s support for codeless architecture—a new open development standard that empowers organizations to build complex software without writing, managing, or even seeing a line of code.

Powered by a single data definition, Codeless as a Service transcends the limits of low-code/no-code platforms, which often require manual coding for complex, custom applications. Even when developers don’t need to write code themselves, low-code/no-code platforms themselves automatically generate new code. In both cases, enterprises end up bearing the cost and risk of managing that net-new code, whether it is manually or automatically generated.

By contrast, Unqork’s Codeless as a Service platform generates zero net-new code, not even automatically generated code. Developers just drag and drop modular components within an entirely visual environment, enabling agencies to build applications in a visual, modular, secure, and scalable way. And by eliminating legacy code, CaaS eliminates the costs associated with its maintenance and the security issues it introduces.

CaaS can help agencies significantly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for a number of reasons. With zero net-new code, users are generating zero tech debt and eliminating all the risks of shadow IT, from disconnected tools to hidden security threats. It enables agencies to securely connect to internal, legacy, and third-party systems and databases quickly and seamlessly as soon as those interconnections are approved. It also makes application development entirely visual by transforming complex software elements (UX, business logic, integrations) into drag-and-drop components.

In addition, clients building on Unqork can import and export the workflows of the applications themselves. This helps free agencies from vendor lock-in and allows them to move forward with modernization initiatives with the confidence that their business processes can be exported and reused.

How commercial clients benefit from Unqork’s FedRAMP authorization

Existing commercial customers also receive significant benefits from Unqork’s FedRAMP authorization. For example, to meet FedRAMP standards Unqork implemented new capabilities for threat detection, response, and continuous monitoring, all of which introduce increased rigor in vulnerability management. Commercial customers will also benefit from improvements in terms of Unqork’s security processes, as well as from enhanced capabilities of the platform itself.

Best of all, commercial customers reap these benefits without having to upgrade or make any change at all to existing applications, even if they involve changes to the platform. Why? Because Unqork’s platform is codeless. That means the underlying platform can evolve with zero changes to existing applications—a great example of the power of a truly codeless architecture.

The new frontier is codeless

We’re in a time of extremely rapid change and transformation, and some really amazing things have grown out of traditional development paradigms. However, the new frontier of software development is codeless. And it is poised to help government agencies make rapid strides in their transformational journey.

Building applications started with punch cards, then programming languages, then low code. Now it’s time for codeless. With Unqork, you shift the modernization mindset from a focus on the “how” to a focus on the “what.” You empower your problem solvers to focus on solutions, and let Unqork handle the “how” securely.
